Progressive webapp solution for the Bikeshare industry
It’s a game changer! That’s what they called it. Bike Share Toronto wanted a solution fo unlock bikes without straight from a users mobile device without downloading an app. We developed a custom Tabclix platform adapted to the industry and casual users, especially out of towners now had an alternative to ride a bike without needing to download an app, or using a station Kiosk on docks where they are not available.
Overview
For the first time, bike share users were able to use the Toronto BIkeShare system without using a station kiosk or downloading an app.
Problem
A simple problem, and an even simple solution. The Scope of the project was to provide users with an alrernative to Kiosk or mobile app downloads for using the bikeshare system in Toronto, Canada.
Solution
A custom Tabclix webapp was developed, integrated with the API BIke Share hardware provider partner. By embedding the Tabclix bar, users were able to purchase casual plans from their mobile device, directly on the Bikeshare Toronto’s mobile version of the website. This resulted in an increase of over 20% of their rides ans revenues.
Visitors of the city, tourists and other users can now purchase a plan and unlock a bike without the requirement of downloading an app. This is a great case of using Tabclix as a framework to built custom functionalities for specific needs.
